If they (LeTV) provide "good enough" after sales support in the US it'll be another blow to the likes of Samsung, HTC, Sony et al especially since all of them have been hit hard in China. It looks to be a body blow (wrt launch timing) to Samsung & it'll be interesting to see how they come out of this trench they've dug for themselves & it isn't just Apple that they ought to be worried about.

Now I can't stress enough as to how the Chinese brands have failed to deliver on the "after sales" services front but considering the strong(er) consumer protection laws in the US, as compared to most of Asia, they would be foolish to err on this front.

That design looks awful lot like HTCs flagship offerings.

Kind of a minor question but are the ports on the phones really USB 2.0C? Or USB C?
  • Drumsticks - Thursday, October 20, 2016 - link

Type C can carry both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 signals, so in this case I'd assume it's USB 2.0 speeds over the 3.0 data bus.
  • Drumsticks - Thursday, October 20, 2016 - link

Er sorry I just woke up. 2.0 speeds over the Type C interface.

    Very ironic brand name.

It would go great with Le Big Mac and Royale with Cheese.

No built-in headphone 3.5mm jack, no deal. I'd rather buy and Honor 8. Just watch Honor 8 prices come down by the holidays.

Looks like a shameless cheap knock-off of the HTC One M9 to me. I seriously doubt there will be any consistent update or support after the initial sale, though. Just look at what happened to Moto after Google sold it to Lenovo :-/
  • Murloc - Thursday, October 20, 2016 - link

OTOH, consider that they're putting much of their effort in being a distribution network, unlike other chinese phone brands which are purely phone manufacturers putting android on their phones because it's free and popular. That doesn't work without decent software support. So maybe they will actually try at being decent.
  • mwarner1 - Saturday, October 22, 2016 - link

I have been surprised how well Lenovo have continued with the prior Motorola philosophy of having very light layer over stock Android and providing speedy updates. The Moto G4, for example, has already started the Nougat rollout.

The question of the hour is how much does this LeEcoLePass Le-cost?
Also that naming might have worked well in Asia and I can understand wanting your brand to be world wide. But - that is just the most horrible name I've heard for a product line in forever.
Seriously though I wish they would just lay out what it costs and what I get so I can make a decision.
That presentation was just an hour and a half of buzz words and b.s. Not a great start.
Also curious about rumors their TVs would run Android TV. No mention of this and honestly it seems slightly contrary to their push that everything runs their ecosystem software. Though Android TV is open enough to provide a back end to their offerings.

I hate LeEco´s UI skin imitating the iPhone. Same goes for Samsung, Huawei, etc, except HTC Sense. But that´s a matter os taste and getting used to, of course. UMI is an exception since they use almost stock android, a bit like Moto.
But a friend of mine bought a LeEco smartphone through a reseller and is came full of bloatware and, worst of all, malware and self installing apps that he removes but get automatically installed again, which is very annoying.
    Thanks LeEco
  • Speedfriend - Friday, October 21, 2016 - link

I know what you mean. I have a smartphone that is full of cr*ppy apps that I don't use and just take up space and I can't delete. I can't even delete them from my home screens .

    Its called an iPhone...
  • Donkey2008 - Saturday, October 22, 2016 - link

Actually you can delete them from your home screens on iOS10 and I sincerely doubt that the 50MB of storage space they use is ruining your life.

    At least you tried.

Other than the massive black border and the poor video camera performance, this seems like the 2016/2017 Nexus 5. These are the specs and the price point that Google should have gone with instead of the Pixel.

2x NanoSIM (dual standby) ? As per spec page it's "Single-Nano SIM".

The Le Pro3 doesn't stand up to the ZTE Axon 7. I don't think anything short of my phone blowing up in my face will make me unhappy with the $400 I spent on the Axon 7.

It's got a beautiful SuperAMOLED QHD screen, Dual-SIM (with the option to use one SIM slot for a micro SDXC), a 21MP camera, amazing speakers, superb audio through the headphone jack with Dolby Atmos, and a 2 year warranty. It blows away most other flagships for $200-300 less than devices with the same specs. I paid $600 for my LG G3 when it was new, and it never lived up to the price tag. LG never came through with any solid or timely Android updates, and even with CM13 the phone was never 100%. I gave LG 2 chances, and they failed on the LG G2X (first phone with Tegra2), and on the G3. Soon, the Axon 7 will have a Nougat update OTA, and the phone will just keep getting better.
  • thek - Thursday, October 20, 2016 - link

these specs for 400$(or 300$with a discount to everyone??) are insane..
and it's Snapdragon too so there's probably going to be Cm/Aosp dev for it at xda (unlike exynos or kirin based phones)
basically if the bezels are not as bad as it seems on the picture (or maybe it's just bad for the lower cost model) then this is definitely the photo to get.

  • AnotherGuy - Thursday, October 20, 2016 - link

I like the Pro specs and phone in general... but imagine someone asks you oh cool dude what phone is that.... I got to say " Ooh its the Le Pro" How frkn gay is that?
  • AnotherGuy - Thursday, October 20, 2016 - link

Change the name to the "End" phone or something, and i will buy it tomorrow :P
  • hybrid2d4x4 - Friday, October 21, 2016 - link

I'd be interested in the S3 if its SOC was not on the crappy 28nm process and if screen size was 5" or smaller (preferably 4.5-4.7") with these size top & bottom bezels. If you're paying attention LeEco, there is a market for smaller phones. Maybe not as big as the 5-5.5 market but you may as well diversify rather than offer multiple versions of the same thing in the race to the bottom.
  • TekDemon - Friday, October 21, 2016 - link

At $399 it's hard to choose this over something like a OP3 despite the faster SD821, since the camera seems to lack OIS, it lacks microsd expandability, and the camera is somewhat dubious without any OIS.
But with a $100 discount, dropping the pro to $299 it's somewhat more competitive.

The real champ here though is probably the fact that the $249 S3 gets dropped to $149. At a $149 pricepoint there's no way you can beat those specs, even if it's a little annoying that there's no NFC for some weird reason.
  • home420 - Friday, October 21, 2016 - link

There is a rumor that One+ is releasing an updated version of OP3 with SD821. name OP3T.
  • UtilityMax - Sunday, October 23, 2016 - link

I doubt they need to drop the price of the S3. At 249USD it's already undercutting the competition, such as the similarly specd Honor8 which is sold at bestbuy for 400USD, or the Moto G4 Plus which sells for 250USD but has much poorer specs.
  • Duto - Saturday, October 22, 2016 - link

This is a horrid imitation of the great product of HTC (Taiwan), is extremely non respectful to let such a plagio go for sell in the US.

That phone is the typical reflex of the Communist China Enterprises practices, it should GO OUT!
  • kyuu - Sunday, October 23, 2016 - link

The S3 would be pretty attractive at the $249 price point, if it wasn't for the lack of microSD.

The Pro at $399 is competing against the ZTE Axon 7 and OnePlus 3, and I'd take either of those over the LeEco.
  • RdVi - Sunday, October 23, 2016 - link

The screen to body ratio is very good on paper, but all the real world shots show that the actual screen is a fair way in from the black glass...The press shots don't seem to be real, unfortunately. Now, are the measurements a lie or is the screen slightly smaller than 5.5"?
  • asfletch - Sunday, October 23, 2016 - link

Agree - there must be some fudging going on - either it's not really 73.9mm wide or the screen is smaller than 5.5." That black border which usually only afflicts white phones looks terrible even on the grey LePro3 (going by video reviews).
